WAIKOLOA, Hawaii — Katie Honeycutt, the 2018 North Carolina Watermelon Queen, is the new National Watermelon Queen.
Honeycutt, 21, was chosen from the eight watermelon queens who’ve represented their state/regional groups over the past year. She was crowned Feb. 24 during the awards banquet at the National Watermelon Association Conference, which was off the mainland for the first time in 105 years.
Honeycutt will represent the association in promoting watermelons at events ranging from festivals, retail store samplings and even visits with legislators as ambassadors for the industry.
She’s majoring in agriculture education and agribusiness management at North Carolina State University. Honeycutt is the daughter of Barry and JoAnne Honeycutt of Angier, North Carolina.

Watermelon Queen 2019 - Amy Arnold
Miss Amy Arnold was crowned as the 2019 North Carolina Watermelon Queen during the 38th Annual North Carolina Watermelon Association Convention held March 1-2, 2019 in Wrightsville Beach, NC.
Amy is the 22 year old daughter of Andrew & Melinda Arnold of Washington, NC. She is a 2019 graduate of North Carolina State University with a degree in Horticultural Science. Amy will begin work on her Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture in the College of Design at North Carolina State University in the fall of 2019.
She enjoys scuba diving, playing the violin, painting and volunteering with 4-H in her community. She also enjoys hunting and fishing. She is a member of the NCSU Agri-Life Council, Agronomy Club and serves as a student advisor to the Dean of the College of Ag and Life Sciences at North Carolina State University.
As North Carolina Watermelon Queen, Amy will travel throughout North Carolina and the United States, serving as a spokesperson for the watermelon industry. Amy will hold the state title for one year and in February 2020 will represent North Carolina for the title of National Watermelon Queen at the National Watermelon Association Convention in Orlando, Florida.

The 2019 crown was presented to Miss Amy Arnold of Washington, during the pageant at the 38th Annual North Carolina Watermelon Association Convention, March 2019 at the Holiday Inn Sunspree in Wrightsville Beach, NC. - 2020 could be your turn!
The 39th North Carolina Watermelon Association Annual Convention and the North Carolina Watermelon Queen Scholarship Pageant will be held in March 2020.
